Spooky talking books of Isle of Wight ghosts. Dare you listen?

Did you know that some of the spookiest tales of ghosts and the many hauntings on the Isle of Wight are now available for the first time on CD as talking books.

The haunting stories on these two 78-minute talking books are taken from paranormal researcher Gay Baldwin's best-selling series of Ghost Island books. Gay, who has been researching and writing about ghosts on the Island since 1977, has now launched the first two in a series of talking ghostbooks.

"Now, for the very first time on 'Ghostly Tales of Knighton Gorges and Carisbrooke Castle'  you can hear this collection of every chilling story from the Isle of Wight's most haunted place - the long-vanished mansion of Knighton Gorges. It's ideal for listening to in the car and the audiobook also makes great bedtime listening - but do leave the lights on!

"This collection of 29 true tales and supernatural happenings is read by Marc Tuckey of Island Ghostwalk fame, and includes a previously unpublished account of a seance at Knighton Gorges in 2006."

The mystery of Knighton Gorges, near Newchurch - recognised as the most haunted place on the Island - casts an enduring spell. Knighton Manor has had a colourful history, and the colour is blood red. The house has been gone for almost two centuries; but here time stands still, and the past throws its shadow on the present in stories of sudden death, insanity, a malicious life and a gallery of ghosts.

Also on this CD are several eerie accounts of ghosts and restless souls at the infamous Carisbrooke Castle. Of course the ancient castle has its many ghosts; their stories include the tragic young Princess Elizabeth, who died while imprisoned there, and a sighting of the ghost of Elizabeth Ruffin, the young daughter of the Mayor of Newport who threw herself down a well at the castle in 1632.

The other audiobook features 20 haunting tales about the many spirits which haunt Osborne House, Appuldurcombe House and Arreton Manor.

Hear haunting tales from the magnificent Osborne House, the Royal family's favourite seaside home, where Queen Victoria breathed her last in 1901. Ghosts abound here in the house and grounds where Victoria and Albert and the Royal children once lived. You are never quite alone at Osborne, where many staff and visitors have reported strange supernatural encounters.

Now it is a ruined shell, but once Appuldurcombe House was one the most magnificent houses on the Island, boasting 365 windows, one for each day of the year, and 52 rooms. Appuldurcombe doesn't give up its secrets easily however. A haunting and truly haunted place, its only inhabitants are now the ghosts.

A brutal family murder lies behind the most persistent of Arreton Manor's many hauntings. When Living TV's Most Haunted team visited the house in January 2005, several ghosts made their presence known. Hear what the ghosts got up to....
